Period of the Judges
Winter 2009

Audience: All Ages

After the arrival of the Israelites in the land of Canaan, God periodically assigned judges to help with civil matters, disputes and military conflicts. The accounts present some of these individuals as noteworthy and others as somewhat disappointing. The period of the judges is summed up in one repeated statement: “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes” (Judges 21:25).
